Abstract
The Bunium persicum species is widely distributed in rangelands, and the indigenous knowledge local communities and understanding of the environmental factors the habitat are essential effectively assist managers in preserving and preventing the destruction habitats of this species. The goal of this research is to investigate indigenous knowledge and identify environmental factors affecting the species. The canopy cover percentage, rock and gravel percentage, and identification of companion plants and density were measured. Measurements habitat parameters such as soil, climate, topography were carried out using laboratory methods, field surveys, and information from the Iranian Meteorological Department. Indigenous knowledge information was collected from shepherds and livestock keepers using open-ended interviews and field surveys. The results showed that the ecological range of black cumin in the province is at an altitude of 2210 to 2470 meters and on the southern slopes of hilly lands. In soils with sandy loam and loamy textures, the percentage of lime in the habitat varies between 17 and 44, the acidity of the soil is between 7 and 8, and the electrical conductivity of the soil is below one. The rich and extensive indigenous knowledge of the region's pastoralists should be utilized in rangeland management and improvement programs.
